For those who owns a 1st gen iPod shuffle and recently update to iTunes 7, read!

 

 

Days ago, I downloaded iTunes 7, everything was perfect until I connected my iPod shuffle.
First few plug in, iTunes could't detect it. When it detected my iPod, it said that iPod was corrupted (in fact it's very healthy).

iTunes was kind enough to suggest me to restore to factory settings or try to disconnect and reconnect it, but either works (even after several attempts).

Google led me to Apple support site (after reading thousand of complaints and curses from users like me) and I downloaded the software. Guess what, it didn't solve the problem. iPod shuffle Reset Utility restore my settings but I still couldn't upload songs into iPod. This error message appeared: "Disk cannot be read from or written to" and iTunes 7 hung.

 

After hitting the wall for several times, repeating the whole process again and again, I brought the iPod to my friends PC which iTunes 6 was not updated. Surprisingly, everything worked well (it was a relief for me..BIG one).

So, the only option was to rollback to iTunes 6 then.

 

This is the list of program needed for rollback.

1. iTunes 6.0.5

2. Crap Cleaner [optional]

 

1. Remove iTunes 7
2. Run Crap Cleaner [optional]
    to remove registery setting of iTunes 7.

    work like normal, just annoying.
3. Install iTunes 6
4. Delete iTunes Library.itl in iTunes folder
    because iTunes 6 can't read the library file of iTunes 7.

    As a result, you'll lose all of your playlists (this is the pay) but all songs remain.
5. Import iTunes music folder to recover library.

 

 

PS: My friend who don't update software often, arrogantly said, "That's what you got chasing the lastest all time."  -  ^$*&!#^$@!

I attended a talk last week. When I arrive, all of the aisle seats were taken, only seats in the middle which were not convenient for moving around left. Later when the room was almost full, audiences applauded and the professor started his speech.

He requested the guy in red who was sitting in the middle of the crowd to stand up and the professor bowed for him. The room was in complete silence. The professor said,

 

 

"I was sitting on stage since the room was almost empty. Everyone walked in and chose the aisle seat because it is convenient to move around. Only that guy walked in and chose the seat in the middle when there were still plenty of aisle seats. He left the best for others. When all aisle seats were taken, new comers were forced to take the seats in the middle. This was when audiences on "the best seat" need to stand up or move to allow others to enter for a dozen times. Some may step on your new shoes or wipe your face with their ass...unintentionally."

I was feeling blue and walking to the lab from the cafeteria when I saw my friend standing in front of the door, reading ads and notices pasted on it. He's a friend whom I haven't met for weeks regardless studying in the same campus. I walked up and placed my hand on his shoulder, giving him a warm greeting with a long-time-no-see-smile. His head which was about 60cm beside mine, turned toward me. Eyes to eyes. This is when my inner-self screamed, "OH SH*T! WHO ARE YOU??!!"........while I remained calm and the big smile.

 

Stupid....but...

 

it lightened me for the rest of the day :)
